A full gut renovation of a Manhattan one bedroom with beautiful views of Riverside Park. The client is a childhood friend of Laurie’s, so it was an extra special endeavor.

Some of the apartment’s new features include: custom millwork, built-ins and moldings throughout, renovated kitchen, bath and double custom closets in the master bedroom.

In the foyer, we relocated the step down that leads to the sunken dining / living area and designed a custom bureau for storage and safety. We then designed a built-in wall unit that spans the entire width of the living room, including a dry bar, wallpapered bookcases, and media area. The wall unit showcases ample storage, unique cabinet details and custom hardware. A bespoke designed sofa, custom window treatments and a refurbished heirloom chair with a nod to Paris beckon with stylish comfort. The dining area was envisioned with dinner parties in mind and is bedecked with a crystal chandelier and anchored by chic yet comfy chairs for celebrating late into the evening.

The kitchen brings together Laurie Blumenfeld Design custom two-tone cabinetry with a quartzite counter top featuring blue hues and a marble chevron backsplash. In the bath, we removed the tub and transformed the former shower into a W/D closet. We designed a new shower with park-facing views. A custom curved vanity maximizes the space. The marble tile was inspired by a Turkish bathroom design and the custom window shade w/tassel rounds out the aesthetic scheme.

For the master bedroom we went with our client’s favorite color, Navy. Dramatic custom navy desk and AC/HEAT unit covers complement the navy accent wall. For this elegant magazine executive, we built out and double closets to house her extensive and beautiful wardrobe.
