The Art of the Curve: Laurie Blumenfeld’s Custom Desk Design in Livingetc
New York City interior designer Laurie Blumenfeld is featured in Livingetc in an article exploring the growing popularity of curved, bean-shaped desks in contemporary home offices and small space interior design.
The feature highlights a bespoke wooden desk Laurie designed for a Manhattan residence, with an organic, bean-shaped silhouette and a custom ombre wood stain. Created for a small work-from-home area within the primary bedroom, the desk fits into a corner overlooking Manhattan, maximizing available floor space while introducing soft curves that contrast with the room’s angular architecture and expansive glass windows.

Interior designer Laurie Blumenfeld tells me she fell in love with the shape so much that she designed a bespoke bean-shaped desk with a custom ombre stain especially for her client.
‘I wanted this shape for a small study because her desk area is within her primary bedroom. We nestled it into a corner with killer views of Manhattan, creating a soft, organic moment in an angular space,’ she says.
‘The wood is the perfect juxtaposition to the glass windows, and the bean shape enabled us to keep it tucked into the corner, allowing for more room in her proper bedroom space.'”
