For this Brooklyn Heights condominium at One Clinton, we went beyond the clean architectural lines of the new building. With custom furniture, innovative space planning, and layered materials, we transformed a blank canvas with daring angles into a family home filled with warmth and individuality. This 3 bedroom apartment with panoramic views of New York City is located in the coveted, new high-rise building, One Clinton, in Brooklyn Heights. Our clients were beginning an exciting new chapter. After leaving a traditional Brooklyn carriage house, they wanted their new condominium to feel lighter, more modern, and better suited to their growing family, without sacrificing comfort or personality. Because none of their previous furnishings complemented the scale or architecture of the new apartment, we designed an entirely new environment tailored specifically to the space.
Rather than competing with the building’s dramatic angles and expansive views, we embraced them. As a deliberate design decision, we introduced curves and organic shapes throughout the home’s straight-lined architecture. In doing so, we softened the hard edges while creating interiors that reflected our client’s love of gentle, organic forms.
That philosophy informed nearly every room. We designed bespoke furnishings with sculptural forms that respond to the architecture while making each space feel warm, inviting, and effortless. In the dining area, we designed a curved dry bar to contrast the long rectangular dining table, creating a deliberate juxtaposition to the condo’s strong architectural lines. Asymmetrical glass and wood cabinetry displays the client’s most beautiful glassware and spirits while concealing bar essentials behind closed storage. In the living room, a custom soft blue curved sofa, organic silhouettes, and layered textures soften the crisp architecture and frame sweeping views of New York Harbor.
Custom furniture became an essential part of the design solution. In the primary bedroom, we designed a fully integrated bed, headboard, and lacquered nightstands to transform an awkward angled wall into a dramatic architectural feature. Conceived as a sumptuous, sculptural composition, the custom bed softens the room’s hard edges while serving as a striking focal point?a velvet wall sculpture of sorts.
We also designed a custom kidney-shaped desk to nestle into the corner, taking full advantage of the sweeping skyline views. Its organic form contrasts with the apartment’s strong architectural lines while preserving openness and allowing natural light to flow through the space. A traditional rectangular desk would have created unused space and interrupted the connection to the windows. To further enhance the piece, we developed a custom ombre wood stain inspired by the changing colors of the sunsets beyond, adding depth, dimension, and a quiet reference to the view itself.
Designing for a young family meant every room needed to be as functional as it was beautiful. In the children’s bedroom, we created a custom reading nook beneath the windows, encouraging imagination, creative moments, and a lifelong love of books. Thoughtful storage, durable materials, and playful details allow the space to evolve alongside its youngest occupants.
Every custom element was created with a single purpose: to make this apartment feel as though it could exist nowhere else. From sculptural furnishings to bespoke built-ins, every piece was designed specifically for this home and this family. Creating one-of-a-kind pieces that are unique to each client is one of the most gratifying parts of our work because it results in a home that simply couldn’t belong to anyone else. The finished Brooklyn Heights condominium reflects this family’s lifestyle, celebrates its remarkable setting, and marks an exciting new chapter in their lives.
